We have so many new products to tell you about I don't know where to start!

Dermalogica - Chromawhite TRx

Firstly, we have the new launch from Dermalogica - Chromawhite TRx! It's the new brightening system which will reduce hyperpigmentation, even out skin tone, increase overall luminosity and prevent further damage to the skin. Selina is totally hooked! I've already caught her several times sneaking testers home at the end of the day! However, if you see her skin you will see a change already, she looks a lot brighter and her acne scars have faded lots (even though its actually aimed at pigmentation marks/age spots). She's only been using the products since May 1st!

So we have now added the following products to the Dermalogica skincare range:

• Tri Active Cleanse - deep cleans, exfoliates and brightens
• Powerfoliant - a two part powder-liquid exfoliant that smoothes and brightens skin
• C-12 Concentrate - a concentrated brightening serum which minimises and prevents future discolouration
• Extreme C - an intense brightening powder which accelerates skin brightening and prevents future damage
• Pure Light SPF 30 - a daytime treatment moisturiser that conditions and brightens and shields against UV light.
• Pure Night - used at night to moisturise and brighten while you sleep.

Leighton Denny - Risque Collection

We also have a great new set of colours in our Leighton Denny nail polish range. Called the Risque Collection, with names to match we have some fabulous vibrant yet feminine colours to choose from. With names like Striptease, Hanky Panky, Gorgeous and Sex Kitten, they're quite hard to resist!

Italian Earthquake Appeal

We were shocked to hear about the Earthquake in Italy last month. Luckily, we don't have any family in the area but nearly 300 people died, under 2000 injured and 28000 people have been left homeless. We can't imagine being in that situation and have been compelled to help. I decided to organise a ball to raise money for this much needed cause and to help the Italians try and recover from this devastating disaster. With other local businesses, the aim is to raise as much money as possible over the summer, then see what is actually needed out there and do something useful and real. That could be to build an orphanage, a school or even a house, we want to do something that will help the people and not get lost in red tape and bureaucracy.

So, I am pleased to announce that The Sharnbrook Hotel, in association with Beauty of Bedford and Starglaze Ltd, will be holding the L'Aquila Earthquake Appeal Ball on Friday 9th October at 7.30pm. Tickets will be £35 per person and available in tables of 10. The full £35 will be donated to the fund as will any money raised from the raffle and any donations on the evening. Our target is to raise £12000 - I hope we can do it!

Tickets are not on sale just yet, but if you're interested in a table of ten, please let me know! Alternatively, I would greatly appreciate some really fab raffle prizes; signed sporting memorabilia, hampers, hotel stays, gym passes, etc (no hair or beauty vouchers though please!). If anyone has any great contacts I would be ever so grateful!

Other News

Don't forget there's another bank holiday coming up (as if you could!) so it means we will be closed on Bank Holiday Monday and therefore appointments will be slightly limited. Also, Nadia will be away for a week so it will be a bit harder o get time with her as well, so please give us a call and book early to avoid disappointment.

March 2009 Newsletter

I am fully refreshed after spending a week in Tenerife - my long overdue holiday! Sadly, we were unlucky with the weather, but I had a great time just the same!

Mother's Day

Mother's Day is almost upon us! If you haven't bought anything already, we are offering the Pinkalicious Manicure at only £10. This treatment is the perfect little treat for Mums (or for anyone else who fancies it really!). After a consultation on your hands and nails, we will use a prescriptive base, then shape and finish them off with our new colour cocktail, Pinkalicious. This is a limited treatment only and will not be a permanent treatment on our menu.

Microdermabrasion

One offer that was a lot more popular than anticipated, was our 5 course facial Microdermabrasion offer! This is for 5 Microdermabrasion Facials for only £200. That means that each facial costs only £40 rather than the usual £55. You can take these facials when you like as often as you like, with no expiry and no restrictions. We have decided to extend this offer until 1st April, but after this date you will never see this offer again! You can buy more than one course and stock them up if you like, but this really is an offer NOT to be missed.

Microdermabrasion is a skin resurfacing treatment which is great for brightening a dull complexion, removes blackheads, fine lines, old acne scars and leaves your skin feeling firmer, fresher and cleaner. We'll even show you what we've sucked out afterwards!

My Favourite Product

Last time it was Selina's turn, this time it's mine! This month I'm raving about Leighton Denny's Slick Tips; I love SLICK TIPS - it's nail magic! Dry, rough looking cuticles immediately look moisturised and healthier while dull, dry looking nails become instantly more attractive. As a bonus it can be painted over touch dry polish as it also helps accelerate drying time. SLICK TIPS works in perfect harmony with a TRIO or QUATRO buffer as a quick mini manicure. Apply over each nail before and after buffing. It's a great little miracle worker and at only £10! (this shouldn't be used with your gels though).

January 2009 Newsletter

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

We hope you all enjoyed your Christmas and New Year. Selina and I had a fab time at the Sharnbrook Hotel - the food was lovely the live band was great and service was brilliant! We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Meanwhile, Nadia was a New Year's Eve bridesmaid and welcomed 2009 in style looking gorgeous in pink!

First week back and Nadia has been busy training in Dermalogica. She is now all prepared and raring to go, so don't forget to book a facial to help your skin recover from all the dehydration from the past month from too much partying, alcohol and bad weather. If you haven't got time for a facial we still have a few Hydration Skin Kits to take home which includes everything to give your skin that much needed boost.

Shopping Event - November 2008

Our Shopping Event was the busiest its ever been and a great success. Those who attended benefited from discounted products, and vouchers to see them through till March 2009, including discounts on lash extensions, lash and brow tints, Dermalogica facials, Bio Sculpture Gels, Spray Tans and many more. (If you've got these vouchers, please check expiry dates and book ASAP to avoid disappointment.) Book your place for our next event as soon as you hear about it, they are well worth it.

Maria's Favourite Product

My favourite product at the moment is the Dermalogica Conditioning Body Wash. Even though I am a beauty therapist and totally understand the benefits of moisturising my body, I must admit, I am a bit lazy, and often forget. So, my legs often look quite scaly. Not any more! Since using the Dermlogica Conditioning Body Wash, my skin is SO much better, so I'm loving it!

The other product we're loving is MAP 15 Regenerator. MAP 15 is one of the products from AgeSmart, which is the range of products that combats ageing at source.

This product delivers the highest concentration of Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate (MAP) directly into the skin to help dramatically improve skin firmness and clarity. This highly-effective form of Vitamin C works with a blend of White Tea, Hyaluronic Acid, Glucosamine, Phospholipids, Algae and Yeast extracts to help stimulate collagen production, brighten skin tone, and neutralize free radicals to dramatically increase hydration, firmness and elasticity while helping to prevent the signs of aging caused by Advanced Glycation End-products (AGEs - a damaged by-product of sugar/protein reactions in the skin). New Leighton Denny Colours!

We have 6 new Leighton Denny polish colours! Called the Criminail Collection, these are mainly metallic colours and look great! My favourite is called Caught Red Handed, which is a red metallic colour, while Selina loves Jailbird, a metallic deep turquoise, while Nadia prefers No Comment, a metallic Aubergine. They look fantastic!! Book a manicure and try them out!

Recommend a Friend

We are now operating a Recommend a Friend Scheme, where you and your friend could earn £10 each. When you come into the salon, pick up a postcard by the till, fill in your details and pass on to your friend.

New Year's Eve: 10am - 1pm

Open as normal from Saturday 3rd January.

During December, if you fail to attend an appointment, or cancel within 24 hours, you WILL be charged 50% of the appointment fee regardless for what reason. This is a busy time for us, and if clients waste a time slot, someone else is being denied their chance to be pampered. Please bear this in mind!

So Selina is back from holiday all refreshed, sporting a lovely new red hair do and everything is back to normal at Beauty of Bedford this month.

Exfoliation

Last month, I spoke about how important exfoliation is for your skin. This month, I'm going to stress it more, especially as summer is definitely over and winter is starting to kick in. This is when our skin starts to dull more than ever, so we really do need to rid ourselves of those dead skin cells to release that natural glow for a fresher complexion.

So, this month we are offering 10% off all exfoliators AND Half hour Microdermabrasions for only £30!

This includes Cleanse, Microdermabrasion once over, Masque, Moisturiser.

For correction work (blackhead removal, scar removal, open pore removal etc) then you should stick to the full Microdermabrasion at £55 for the hour. If you only want the half hour Microdermabrasion, please say so at time of booking, or you will automatically be booked in the full facial.

Last month, our 3 most popular treatments were:

• Lash extensions
• Spray tans
• Gel overlays, with French overlays only just beating colour overlays.

It's great having Nadia take the pressure off with the Lash Extensions. The good news is, between the two of us, so many more of you will have the chance to have lovely, long lashes. We've also just switched to a much stronger glue which means they should last that bit longer too.

Credit Crunch Madness

Talking of discounts, there is no need to compromise on your skin care when taking heed of credit crunch warnings and tightening your purse strings! Recently on Credit Crunch Beauty featured on Lorraine Kelly's Breakfast Show, they looked into economising on your cleansing.

They said that Make-Up wipes often worked out cheaper than ordinary cleansers, with a brand like Simple costing 14p per sheet, but a brand like Mac costing 40p per sheet.

Let's work out how much Dermalogica costs ...

A 500ml cleanser costs £36.20 and lasts 6 months. So,

• £36.20 divided by 6 months = £6.03
• £6.03 divided by 4.3 weeks = £1.40
• £1.40 divided by 7 days = 20p

That's 20p per day for 2 uses (morning and night), so the equivalent of only 10p per use!

If you really do want to use wipes rather than a conventional cleanser, then you are able to use Ultra Calming Cleanser on a tissue and use that like a wipe. A good cleanse is probably the most important step you can take for healthy skin.

So, as it shows, there is no need to compromise on quality when it comes to making savings on your beauty care!

Another little beauty tip ...

Don't throw away your nail polish when it starts to get all thick and gloopy - Leighton Denny do some great drops called 'As Good As New'. A few drops of this in any polish, will bring it back as good as new. And this only costs £8!

Talking of New ...

We are so looking forward to all the Christmas Gift Boxes we're getting in stock soon! Fake Bake have brought out some fantastic sets at only a couple of pounds more than what you would pay for your normal Fake Bake - well worth the money for all the extra goodies inside. Dermalogica have also brought out some cute little gift sets especially to help your skin deal with all the stresses of Christmas and parties and bad weather.... its all very exciting - look out for the big launch soon!

Christmas Shopping Evening & 4th Beauty of Bedford Birthday

After the success of last year's Christmas Shopping Event, we will be holding another one this year. The only change being, we're bringing it forward to the beginning of November, rather than the beginning of December.
